Dani

Privacy

Dani has no account and no server of its own. The app records only anonymous screen names. This website tracks nothing.

Kept on your device

Your location, saved places, settings and reminders stay on your phone. Sun and moon times are calculated there too.

Sent to others

To show the weather, Dani sends your coordinates, rounded, to MET Norway (the Norwegian Meteorological Institute) through a small caching service Dani runs on Cloudflare. That service can see your IP address and those coordinates, and it keeps no accounts and builds no profiles. When you open the map, your phone loads map tiles from OpenFreeMap, which can see your IP address and the area you view. Apart from the anonymous screen names below, nothing else leaves your device.

Analytics

The app uses Firebase Analytics, which records anonymous screen names only, such as which screen was opened. It never records your location, saved places or reminders, does not link them to your identity, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

This website runs no analytics and no tracking.

Location permission

Dani asks for your location only to work out the light where you are. If you say no, it uses a default place and you can pick another.

Notifications

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone. They need no account and no network.

Your control

Deleting the app removes what it stored on your device. Dani keeps nothing on a server, so there is nothing for us to delete or export.
